Prepare a home film screening

01 Test the title

Check title, edition, stated duration and tracks before viewers arrive. Test with the actual device and connection. Playback on a phone does not guarantee the same experience on a TV.

02 Adjust picture and sound

Adjust lighting to limit reflections and check dialogue level without excessive volume. Test subtitle size from the furthest seat. Preserve original aspect ratio: black bars do not necessarily indicate an error.

03 Organise viewing

Agree breaks and silence notifications. For long works, a planned pause is preferable to repeated interruptions. Afterwards discuss what each person saw before consulting explanations or reviews: first impressions have value.

Frequently asked questions

What should I test first?

Test the actual title and tracks, then dialogue and a dark scene. Testing menus alone does not verify film playback.
